South Whittier School District Hosts Health & Wellness Fair in Partnership with LA County

South Whittier School District in partnership with Los Angeles County Supervisor, Janice Hahn, hosted their annual Health & Wellness Fair at Carmela Elementary on Saturday, May 4.

The event began with a welcome from a representative from Janice Hahn’s office. He welcomed everyone to the event and thanked all the vendors who donated time and resources to the community and urged community members to take advantage of the resources available to them. South Whittier School District Superintendent, Dr. Gary Gonzales, also greeted attendees. He shared his excitement for the event and thanked everyone for taking time out of their schedule to attend the Fair.

The event included over 31 vendors and onsite services available to the community. Some of the onsite services included glucose and blood pressure screenings, hair cuts, dental screenings, vision and hearing screenings, vaccines, Medi-Cal and CalFresh application assistance, and more. All services were free and available to all attendees.

In addition to services, there were vendors, food, games, and performances. Attendees were able to see performances from South Whittier School District’s music program, Graves Middle School band, cheerleading performances from elementary schools and Graves Middle School. The district’s exhibits also showcased the district’s robotics, art program, mental health resources, and much more.

Lastly, there was delicious food options for people to enjoy. Chik-Fil-A and the Kona Ice truck were both at the Fair, as well as tacos and popcorn. Attendees got to enjoy a variety of games, face painting, arts and crafts, and lots of free gifts.

The Health & Wellness Fair is an annual event and the District in partnership with Janice Hahn plan to hold the event in 2025.
