Presentation: Parent Engagement

Director of Assessments, Accountability and Parent Engagement, Dr. Reanna Mendoza, and District Community Liaison, Brenda Venegas, shared about a partnership between South Whittier School District, The Boys & Girls Club, and Whittier College that has provided free technology classes to SWSD parents.

Ms. Venegas and a representative from The Boys & Girls Club shared about the technology class and it’s impact on the community. Ten participants took part in the class that was taught by Whittier College students. Most participants were Spanish speakers who all had different skill levels. This class was unique because participants were able to share their need and desire for learning and the classes focused their teaching on those needs.

All ten participants were recognized at the board meeting and were given Certificates of Completion. Congratulations to all participants!
